2Eclectic and daring, the new Weylandts Aviator range redefines industrial-age design and explores the pairing of contrasts to offer a fresh, futuristic take on traditional pieces. This bold collection from South China includes robust chairs, unique writing desks and slick storage units which break with conventional design ideas.

Inspired by a passion for all things military and influenced by the industrial era, these hand-made Weylandts pieces seem to merge two different worlds and ages together, enhancing spartan military designs with shiny studs and soft furnishings to add a luxurious element.

“The new Aviator range is defined by sleek lines and interesting combinations, making them exceptional works which are more like objects d’art than traditional furniture pieces,” says Chris Weylandt, CEO and owner of Weylandts Homestores.

“The combination of high shine chrome, organic leather and unique intricate finishings give this furniture a futuristic edge, and is in line with the global trend of juxtaposing contrasting textures and materials in an innovative and visually appealing way,” adds Weylandts.

The Weylandts Aviator range is now available in stores. A glimpse into the range reveals:

Aviator Tom Cat chair: Made of the best quality leather and aluminium, this masculine comfortable chair is a perfect example of the aesthetic and tactile appeal created from the pairing of contrasting materials. Retail price: R26 500.

Aviator streamline desk: This desk is crafted from recycled aluminium with a high shine finish. Its clean lines are embellished with unusual stitching features which add character and give it a solid look. Retail price: R20 900.

Aviator Hercules bookcase: This tall rectangular aluminium bookcase boasts four ample shelves, is sturdy and adds a touch of glamour to storage. Retail price: R24 500.

Aviator Valkyrie desk: Bold and eye-catching, this work desk offers an edgy and futuristic take on the standard writing desk, with disguised storage space under its sloping legs. The oblique angles gives the illusion of a machine that is about to take flight. Retail price: R27 500.

All products in this range are hand made by skilled craftsmen and small irregularities in shapes, finishes and surfaces are signs of the authenticity and precision taken in their production.
